How to Set Up Online Rent Payments 

Paying rent should be simple, secure, and flexible — and your Resident Portal makes it that way. Whether you prefer to schedule payments automatically or pay as you go, you can manage everything in just a few clicks. 

Step 1: Log Into Your Resident Portal or Hawthorne Life App 

Once you’re in, go to the Payments section at the top of your dashboard. Need to set up your account? Check out this quick guide on how to set up your account!

Step 2: Add Your Payment Method 

Select Payment Accounts, then choose your preferred method: 

  • Debit Card & Credit Cards – Select this method and you will be prompted to enter your debit or credit card information. Be sure to click Save once completed! 
  • Bank Account (ACH) – Choose this option to seamlessly connect your bank account for easy payments. Simply choose your bank from the list or search, and enter your banking information.  
  • PayNearMe – Want more ways to pay? PayNearMe makes it easy and convenient for you to make a payment with cash at thousands of trusted payment locations nationwide, including participating 7-Eleven, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Walmart, Casey’s General Store, Kroger and ACE Cash Express locations. 

Note: Bank accounts may require 1–2 days for verification. 

Step 3: Choose How You Want to Pay 

✅ Auto-Pay 

Set up automatic recurring payments to run each month — great for peace of mind. Simply click on the Setup Autopay option.  

💳 One-Time Payments 

Prefer flexibility? Select Make a Payment each month whenever you’re ready. Just select “Make a Payment.” 

Step 4: Track Your Payments 

You can view your full payment history anytime in the Resident Activity section — everything stays organized and easy to reference. 

Paying on the Go? 

Use the Hawthorne Life app to: 

  • Check your balance 
  • Make payments 
  • Receive payment reminders 
  • And more 

You can also enable Text-to-Pay for even faster payments.
